Circa Survivor Week 2: 49ers and Buccaneers Dominate the Most Popular Picks
Circa Survivor Week 2 selections are in, and the remaining field has overwhelmingly concentrated on two teams: the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 49ers are the most popular Circa Survivor pick of Week 2 with 6,741 entries, representing 39.8% of the remaining field. The Buccaneers aren't far behind with 6,061 entries, or 35.8%.
Together, San Francisco and Tampa Bay account for 75.6% of the Week 2 Circa Survivor field, meaning the results of just two games could have a massive impact on how many entries survive to Week 3.
49ers Are the Most Popular Circa Survivor Week 2 Pick
The San Francisco 49ers lead all Week 2 Circa Survivor selections with 6,741 entries (39.8%).
Nearly four out of every 10 remaining entries are relying on San Francisco to advance this week.
That makes the 49ers game one of the biggest of the entire Circa Survivor weekend. A San Francisco win would send a huge portion of the field safely into Week 3, while a loss would eliminate nearly 40% of the remaining entries in a single game.
As the contest progresses, decisions like this become even more important because each team can only be used once. Contestants have to balance surviving the current week with preserving valuable teams for later in the season.
Buccaneers Are Close Behind With 35.8% of the Field
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the second-most popular Circa Survivor Week 2 selection, appearing on 6,061 entries, or 35.8% of the remaining field.
That's only 680 fewer entries than the 49ers.
With more than one-third of the contest relying on Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers game carries nearly as much importance as San Francisco's. A Tampa Bay loss would immediately eliminate more than 6,000 entries and dramatically reshape the Circa Survivor field heading into Week 3.
With 75.6% of entries on either the 49ers or Buccaneers, most contestants will be watching one of these two teams closely in Week 2.
Chargers Get Another Chance After Eliminating 30% in Week 1
After the 49ers and Buccaneers, there is a significant drop to the third-most popular Circa Survivor selection.
The Los Angeles Chargers were selected by 1,357 entries, representing 8% of the remaining field.
It's an interesting show of confidence after the Chargers were responsible for the biggest Circa Survivor elimination of Week 1. Los Angeles knocked out 7,585 entries—30.3% of the entire field—with its Week 1 loss.
Despite that result, more than 1,300 surviving contestants are putting their trust in the Chargers in Week 2 and hoping for a much different result.
The Chargers may have burned thousands of contestants last week, but plenty of the remaining Circa Survivor field is willing to give them another chance.
Circa Survivor Week 2 Most Popular Picks
The three most popular teams account for an incredible 83.6% of the remaining Circa Survivor entries:
- San Francisco 49ers: 6,741 entries — 39.8%
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 6,061 entries — 35.8%
- Los Angeles Chargers: 1,357 entries — 8.0%
That leaves only 16.4% of the field spread across every other available team.
The concentration makes Week 2 especially important. If the three most popular teams all advance, much of the field will remain intact. But one major upset could eliminate thousands of entries and significantly change the complexion of the contest.
Circa Survivor Week 2 Could Reshape the Contest
Circa Survivor is still early in the season, but the field has already taken a major hit.
The Chargers' Week 1 loss demonstrated how quickly the contest can change when a heavily selected team fails to advance. Now, with almost 40% of the remaining entries on San Francisco and another 35.8% on Tampa Bay, Week 2 presents another opportunity for a massive swing in the size of the field.
Every week also creates another strategic decision. Contestants need to survive, but using a strong team now means that team won't be available later in the season.
As the number of available teams shrinks and special contest weeks approach, preserving the right teams can become increasingly important.
