Best Circa Survivor Picks for NFL Week 5: Limited Options Make This a Difficult Week
The first month of the NFL season is over, and Circa Survivor Week 5 presents contestants with one of their most difficult decisions yet.
Unlike some of the earlier weeks, there simply aren't many obvious choices on the Week 5 NFL schedule. Kansas City is unavailable because of its bye week, several of the league's better teams face difficult opponents, and many contestants have already used some of their preferred teams during the opening four weeks.
That makes NFL Week 5 Survivor picks especially important. Contestants need to find a team they trust without unnecessarily using a valuable team that could be more useful later in the season.
Here are some of the best Circa Survivor options for Week 5.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
For contestants who still have Dallas available, the Cowboys may be the most straightforward option on the entire Week 5 schedule.
Dallas gets Tampa Bay at home on Thursday night, and compared with the rest of the Week 5 slate, there aren't many teams that enter the week with a more favorable situation.
The biggest question is availability. Some Circa Survivor contestants may have already used Dallas earlier in the season, while others may hesitate to burn one of their stronger remaining teams this early.
Normally, saving a team like Dallas for later in the year could make sense. But Week 5 is a reminder that Survivor is ultimately about advancing. With so few comfortable choices available, this may not be the week to get too creative.
Cincinnati Bengals at Miami Dolphins
Cincinnati is another team that deserves serious consideration in Week 5.
The Bengals travel to Miami, which prevents this from being quite as comfortable as it might look if Cincinnati were playing at home. Still, the matchup makes the Bengals one of the more attractive alternatives for contestants who have already used Dallas or want to preserve the Cowboys.
The downside is exactly what makes Week 5 so difficult: many of the secondary Survivor options come with legitimate concerns.
Taking a team on the road always introduces another variable, and Cincinnati doesn't offer the same level of comfort as Dallas this week. But on a slate lacking obvious choices, the Bengals belong near the top of the list.
Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans
Houston is another possible Circa Survivor Week 5 pick, although once again contestants would have to trust a road team.
The Texans travel to Tennessee for an AFC South matchup. Houston has enough talent to make this game attractive, particularly compared with some of the other choices available this week.
There is also a potential strategic advantage here. Houston may not be a team contestants are desperate to preserve for a specific future week, which could make the Texans useful now while allowing stronger teams to remain available later in the season.
Divisional games can always be dangerous in Survivor, though, and that keeps Houston from being an automatic selection.
New England Patriots vs. Las Vegas Raiders
For contestants looking beyond the most obvious Week 5 choices, New England is worth considering at home against Las Vegas.
The Patriots are coming off an impressive road win over Buffalo in Week 4, giving contestants another reason to take them seriously. Las Vegas has also started the season well, however, so this isn't the type of matchup that should be treated as an easy advancement.
New England's biggest appeal may be strategic. If you can survive Week 5 without using one of the NFL's elite teams, that additional flexibility could become extremely valuable later in the Circa Survivor schedule.
But once again, the fact that New England belongs in the conversation illustrates just how limited the options are this week.
Week 5 Could Be a Week to Prioritize Survival
There are weeks when Circa Survivor contestants can afford to look several weeks ahead and search for creative ways to preserve the NFL's best teams.
Week 5 may not be one of those weeks.
Dallas stands out from the rest of the schedule, but after the Cowboys there is a noticeable drop to the next group of options. Cincinnati, Houston and New England all have reasonable paths to advancing, but each comes with more risk than contestants would ideally want.
With the Chiefs on a bye and several other top teams facing difficult opponents, the list of comfortable Circa Survivor Week 5 options is unusually short.
That could make this a week where simply advancing should take priority over trying to make the perfect long-term strategic selection.
Week 5 may not offer many comfortable Circa Survivor choices, but you only need one team to win and advance.
